Resin

A light-sensitive liquid material that becomes solid when exposed to the right wavelength.

Resin is a light-sensitive liquid polymer used in stereolithography and other vat-based 3D printers. It stays fluid until it is exposed to the correct wavelength of light, at which point it hardens into a solid layer. Because the material can capture very fine detail, resin printing is often chosen when accuracy matters more than speed or toughness.

In cyber security, resin matters whenever physical objects are part of the threat model. Security teams may use it to prototype device enclosures, sensor mounts, badge holders, or test fixtures for lab work. Attackers can also use resin prints to make precise physical replicas, custom adapters, or small tools that support access attempts. The key security lesson is that resin printing depends on controlled settings, post-curing, and repeatable workflows; small mistakes can weaken a part or change its fit, which makes careful process management important in both offensive and defensive uses.
