RubyDoc

A documentation service for Ruby libraries that can serve generated project documentation online.

RubyDoc is a documentation service for Ruby libraries. It generates and serves API documentation for projects, often from source comments and packaged metadata, so developers can browse reference material online instead of building it locally.

From a security perspective, RubyDoc matters because it is internet-facing infrastructure that sits close to a software ecosystem’s trust chain. If an attacker compromises the service, they may be able to alter documentation, inject misleading guidance, host malicious links, or use the server as a foothold for further activity. In real attacks, documentation platforms are attractive targets for web exploitation, credential abuse, and remote code execution. Defenders protect them with patching, least privilege, strong authentication, monitoring for unusual process spawning and request bursts, and segmentation from build or package-publishing systems.
