Service activation

the moment a subscription becomes usable on the network.

Service activation is the point at which a subscribed service is provisioned and becomes usable on the network. For broadband, this typically means the provider has completed the necessary order processing, configured the connection, and enabled the line-not merely that fiber or other infrastructure is reported as available nearby.

Activation matters because delays or errors in address records, provisioning systems, building wiring, or field work can leave a customer without service despite apparent coverage. In cyber security and operations, accurate inventory data and controlled provisioning workflows help prevent unauthorized changes and reduce failed activations. Attackers who gain access to provider systems could potentially tamper with service records or configurations; monitoring changes and validating orders helps detect such misuse.
