Service quality is the user-facing performance of a network or digital service: how reliable it is, how consistently it works, and how well it handles demand. In telecom and cloud systems, this can include uptime, latency, packet loss, throughput, and call or session stability. High service quality means users can depend on the service under normal and peak conditions.
In cyber security, service quality matters because many attacks aim to reduce it rather than steal data. Distributed denial-of-service attacks, radio interference, misconfiguration, and overloaded infrastructure can all make a service slow, unstable, or unavailable. Defenders track service quality with monitoring, SLAs, redundancy, traffic filtering, and capacity planning so they can spot degradation early and keep critical systems usable. For security teams, service quality is both an operational goal and a signal that something may be under attack.
