Sheet metal is thin metal stock that can be cut, bent, and formed into parts. In security work, it is used to build server chassis, network appliance housings, cabinets, and protective covers. Its value comes from being strong, lightweight, and easy to shape into precise enclosures or shields.
In cyber security, sheet metal matters because physical access often leads to digital compromise. Attackers may cut or bend a panel to reach debug headers, storage devices, power rails, or hidden ports inside a device. Defenders use sheet-metal enclosures for tamper resistance, EMI shielding, and controlled access to sensitive hardware. Good fabrication, locking, and grounding help keep systems harder to probe, modify, or bypass.
