Short-form video is brief, platform-native video content built for rapid viewing, typically seconds to under a minute. Its strengths are speed, repetition, and easy sharing: viewers can understand a message with little context, and platforms can amplify it quickly through feeds, reposts, and recommendation systems.
In cyber security, this format matters because it is ideal for social engineering. Attackers use short videos to push fake giveaways, malware lures, credential theft, impersonation, and scam instructions in a way that feels casual and trustworthy. The same properties also help defenders: security teams use short-form clips for awareness training, incident warnings, and fast public communication. The risk is that compressed messages reduce verification and strip away context, making it easier for misinformation, branded impersonation, and deepfake-style deception to spread before it can be checked.
