Snapshot page

A saved view of content at a specific moment, often used for shared chats.

A snapshot page is a saved, read-only view of content at a specific moment. In shared chats and collaboration tools, it preserves the conversation as it existed when the link was created, even if the original content later changes or is deleted.

In cyber security, snapshot pages matter because they can expose more than users expect. A link that seems limited to one recipient may be forwarded, crawled, or indexed if the page is publicly reachable. Sensitive text, metadata, and attachments can then become discoverable outside the intended audience. Defenders should treat snapshot pages as public-facing assets unless access controls, expiration, and anti-indexing measures are enforced. Users should avoid placing secrets, credentials, or regulated data into anything they plan to share by link.
