Stolen-data storage

space used to hold exfiltrated files or credentials.

Stolen-data storage is any space an attacker uses to hold files, databases, archives, or credentials taken from a victim. That storage can be temporary, such as a web server folder, cloud bucket, paste site, or compromised host, or longer term as part of a larger criminal workflow. It matters because exfiltrated data is often what enables follow-on fraud, extortion, identity theft, or resale.

In real attacks, stolen-data storage may sit inside the attacker’s own infrastructure or on repurposed legitimate systems, making it harder to distinguish from normal web traffic. Defenders look for unusual uploads, hidden directories, large outbound transfers, and unexpected write activity on web servers. Protecting against this abuse means monitoring data egress, hardening web applications, limiting write access, and quickly isolating compromised hosts so they cannot be used as a holding point for stolen information.
