A strategic center is a site that concentrates specialist skills, decision-making, or high-value industrial activity. In practice, it may be a headquarters, engineering hub, control room, manufacturing node, or cloud team that other sites depend on for critical work.
In cyber security, strategic centers matter because they create leverage: if an attacker compromises one, they can reach many systems, influence key decisions, or disrupt operations at scale. Attackers often aim for identity systems, admin consoles, build pipelines, or other central services rather than low-value endpoints. Defenders reduce this risk by segmenting access, limiting privileges, distributing knowledge, and building redundancy so no single site becomes a single point of failure.
