A super-app is a mobile application that bundles multiple services into one platform, such as messaging, voice calls, social features, payments, shopping, and identity. Instead of using separate apps, users stay inside one ecosystem for many everyday tasks. This design creates convenience, but it also concentrates sensitive data, authentication, and trust relationships in a single place.
In cyber security, super-apps matter because a weakness in one component can expose many others. A flaw in chat handling, account recovery, or in-app payments may give an attacker a larger blast radius than in a single-purpose app. Super-apps can also be attractive for phishing, session theft, and malware delivery because users already expect incoming messages and transaction prompts. Defenders focus on secure update pipelines, strong isolation between services, abuse monitoring, and rapid patching of high-risk code paths.
