A support bath is a surrounding medium used during some printing or fabrication methods to hold a part in place while it is formed or cured. Instead of relying only on air or a build plate, the material is shaped inside a gel, slurry, or other carrier that resists gravity and helps delicate features keep their geometry.
In cyber security, support baths matter anywhere additive manufacturing is part of a trusted supply chain. Attackers may try to alter the process to weaken a part, hide defects, or produce counterfeit components with the wrong dimensions or surface finish. Defenders look at printer settings, material provenance, and process logs to verify that the bath, feedstock, and curing conditions match the approved build. That helps detect tampering in hardware production and protects components that must fit or function exactly as designed.
