A system-of-models is an AI architecture that combines multiple models instead of relying on one model for every task. A routing layer or controller decides which model should handle a prompt, and may escalate, fallback, or balance traffic based on cost, latency, confidence, or policy.
In cyber security, this matters because the routing layer becomes part of the trust boundary. It can enforce access controls, block sensitive prompts, choose safer models for high-risk requests, and reduce exposure by sending simple tasks to cheaper or more restricted engines. But it also creates new attack surface: adversaries may try to manipulate routing with prompt injection, trigger weak fallback behavior, or exploit inconsistent policies between models. Defenders use system-of-models designs to improve resilience, separate duties, and limit damage when one model is inaccurate or compromised.
