Tariffa a fasce means time-band pricing: the cost changes depending on when a service is used, often splitting usage into peak and off-peak periods. In cyber security, the idea matters because many digital systems also have time-based behavior, such as maintenance windows, rate limits, logging windows, and scheduled backups. Understanding the time bands helps defenders predict when systems are cheaper, quieter, or less monitored.
Attackers can exploit that predictability. A malicious actor may time heavy network activity, data exfiltration, or brute-force attempts for off-peak hours when staff are fewer and alerts may be reviewed more slowly. Defenders use the same concept in reverse: they schedule scans, patching, and backups in low-traffic periods to reduce disruption, while still monitoring for unusual activity during those windows. In practice, time-band awareness helps security teams spot behavior that is normal for billing but suspicious for operations.
