Verification page

a screen that claims to confirm access or legitimacy and can be impersonated to build trust.

A verification page is a screen that claims to confirm access, identity, or legitimacy before letting a user continue. In legitimate services, it may check a browser session, a CAPTCHA, or an account state. In attacks, criminals impersonate this kind of page to borrow trust: the page looks like a routine security check, so the victim is less likely to question what happens next.

This matters because a fake verification step can be used to steer users into unsafe actions, such as pasting commands, approving prompts, or revealing credentials. It is common in phishing and ClickFix-style lures, where the goal is not to exploit software directly but to convince the user to do the harmful step themselves. Defenders should treat any verification page that asks for unusual input, especially command-line instructions, as suspicious. Checking the domain, avoiding copy-pasted commands, and monitoring for browser-to-shell activity are practical ways to spot abuse.
