Voice Anti-Spoofing

Controls designed to detect cloned, replayed, or synthesized audio in voice-based authentication systems.

Voice anti-spoofing is a set of controls that checks whether an audio sample is genuinely spoken by a live person or instead comes from a replayed recording, cloned voice, or synthesized speech. It is used in voice-based authentication and call-center verification to reduce the risk that an attacker can impersonate a user with artificial audio.

This matters because speaker recognition alone can be fooled if a system accepts any sound that matches a stored voiceprint. Anti-spoofing adds a defense layer by looking for signs of manipulation, such as unnatural prosody, channel artifacts, or replay patterns. In practice, it helps stop fraud attempts that use deepfake voice generation, recorded phrases, or injected audio streams. Strong implementations are usually paired with liveness checks and broader fraud monitoring, because no single control can cover every attack path.
