VPNv2 CSP (Configuration Service Provider) is the Windows management interface used to create and manage VPN profiles on devices enrolled through MDM. Administrators use it with tools such as Intune or other management platforms to define tunnel type, server address, authentication method, certificates, routing, and Always On VPN behavior, often by deploying ProfileXML settings.
It matters because it is the control plane for enterprise remote access. If VPNv2 CSP settings are wrong or changed by an update, devices may fail to connect, lose device-tunnel access before sign-in, or fall back to weaker connectivity. Defenders often check this policy area when troubleshooting VPN failures, validating certificate and IKEv2 settings, and confirming that a deployed profile matches the intended configuration. In security operations, the CSP is usually a configuration source to audit and harden rather than a direct attack target.
