Withdrawal suspension is a temporary block on outgoing transfers from a crypto exchange, wallet service, or financial platform. Security teams use it when they suspect theft, unauthorized access, or a serious control failure. The goal is to stop funds from leaving while investigators check logs, review signing keys, trace blockchain movements, and confirm which systems were touched.
In cyber security, this is a containment measure, not a cure. It can slow an attacker’s cash-out path, reduce further loss, and protect reserves while incident response teams rotate credentials, audit admin access, and verify whether hot wallets or other active custody layers were compromised. In real incidents, withdrawals may be paused even if trading or deposits remain available, because the main risk is outgoing transfers. The tradeoff is clear: suspension can preserve funds, but it also signals that trust has been disrupted and normal operations are under investigation.
