YOLO mode is a risky configuration for an AI agent or automation tool that skips confirmation prompts before carrying out high-impact actions. Instead of pausing for human approval, the system proceeds immediately, which can include running commands, changing settings, or using connected tools.
In cyber security, this matters because approval gates are a key control on agentic software. When they are removed, an attacker can abuse prompt injection, malicious instructions, or compromised workflows to make the agent act with machine speed and broad permissions. Defenders reduce the risk by keeping approval enabled for sensitive actions, limiting tool access, using sandboxing, and applying least privilege so an agent cannot easily turn a bad instruction into real damage.
